Moralis Magazine #29 – Moralis Q&A

Table of Contents

We (the Moralis DAO) support and use the most robust and powerful Web3 framework available.

Moralis is a powerful Web3 framework, but together as the Moralis DAO, we are so much more than that. We want to help you level up your developments by giving you the tools and components you need to build your applications quickly.

Web3 Belongs to Us All…

Web3 is not something that Moralis invented. As much as we strive to be the de facto Web3 framework, the Web3 world itself does not belong to us (or anyone in particular) –  it belongs to all of us! If you want to be a part of this amazing global transformation, getting involved is easy; just start building. Moralis is carefully and skillfully designed to make your journey in Web3 development more comfortable and more productive.

Check out some of our open-source starter tools today and see first-hand that Moralis is for you!

What are you building with Moralis? Are you stuck? Reach out to us with questions and comments. Who knows, we may even respond to you directly in a future magazine!

Send Us Your Questions

Moralis Mage Q&A Deluxe!

This week we dug deep into some of the best of our most recent inquiries! If we did not respond to yours, feel free to post it again! Also, answers to deeper questions and hands-on help are available in our forum. Skip to the end for a link, and to see a great example of a forum question (still unposted, it’s up to one of you to take the next step here!)

The following questions were answered by Moralis Experts, they are methods known to work based on experience and testing. As with most things in development, there is more than one route to similar ends. We hope the answers provided here will help you find your own path on your journey to Web3 success!

Q: No real question – but just to pass much love to the team. Thanks for enabling us

devs to build fast dApps!

A: Thank you for the kind words Moralis Mage! We are just as proud to be working with all of you, and rest assured that we are only getting started. Thanks to everyone reading this for being a part of Moralis!

Q: How can I make my marketplace with a lot of filters, similar to Ninneko and Axie Infinity, to search NFT properties in our dApp using Moralis?

A: One option is to build a filter component using something like React, and then you could use Moralis to retrieve the NFT metadata (specifically the attributes for an NFT) and your application logic would handle the filtering on the front-end.

Alternatively, there is a search capability in web3api directly, https://docs.moralis.io/moralis-server/web3-sdk/token#searchnfts!
Using this open source template, specific sets can be easily configured and filters applied.

Q: After I receive the production key from Onramper, what do I do next?

A: For this, you might consider starting with the Ethereum Boilerplate [https://github.com/ethereum-boilerplate/ethereum-boilerplate] to see how the Onramper plugin can be applied. Alternatively, you can apply it yourself once added to the Onramper plugin settings.

Q: I was building a DEX website with your plugin, but I stopped because you the plugin

doesn’t have support for Fuse Network. I would really appreciate it if you can help me add Fuse Network.

A: Unfortunately, Fuse Network is not one that we support at this time. However, in the future we plan to introduce support for a wide variety of additional networks. Self-hosted options will also become available later on, and may help in addressing this concern.

Q: How to utilize your dApp with other smart contracts – I’m building a smart contract

like an address book, and it would be great to be able to quickly connect up with your dApp!

A: With Moralis, you can use automatic syncing to listen to smart contract events and then build logic and triggers around new events happening on-chain.

There are also functions specific to contract interaction in the SDK: Moralis.executeFunction is one of them, check the documentation for more details: https://docs.moralis.io/moralis-server/web3/web3#executefunction

Q: My dream is building a blockchain 2D game using Moralis.

A: Take a look at some of our gaming tutorials. The game logic, and GUI are one component, which you will need to master separately (YouTube has many good tutorials, try searching for

“How to build…” ending with a game similar to what you are interested in creating). The second component is Web3 integration,

We have not yet produced a 2D game specific deep-dive, but these two tutorial will point you in the right direction:

Q: How do I import my website to my Moralis server and edit it as a Web3

project??

A: You can interact with the Moralis SDK by using some simple JavaScript.

Have a read through the Moralis documentation to see which features you would like to use.

first step would be to import Moralis SDK and use the functions from the SDK

Finally, we close with our example, mentioned in the beginning. Some inquiries, while extremely well structured are a bit too long for us to answer here. The good news is this is perfect for our forum to assist with!

Q: I saw the YouTube video for Coding Web3 Social Network (Reddit Clone) and also

saw this site (metafora.app) which I think is loosely similar. I have a specific use

case I’d like to implement and am stuck on where to find information for the

following. What does unlisted mean? How does unlisting in the (smart contract?)

work? Also, how does Profile work? As in, how does it know to show you (the user)

only your posts? How does following work? How does the smart contract store who

you are following? Is it possible to make other things unlisted, such as who you’re

following? Lastly, how does deleting posts work? Does it just “de-link” the message

from the UI? Any resources or places to find out that you could point me towards

would be appreciated.

A: Mages, check to see if this issue has been posted to the using the link here:
