Moralis Magazine #15 – Building a Social Media Website

Table of Contents

Thank you again for joining us this week. Together we (the Moralis DAO) support and use the most robust and powerful Web3 framework available.

Moralis is a powerful Web3 framework, but together as the Moralis DAO, we are so much more than that. We want to help you level up your developments by giving you the tools and components you need to build your applications quickly.

Each of you is part of something extraordinary, and this magazine is all about putting the power of Moralis to work for you!

We are all Moralis and are here to support each other. If you are not already active in the Moralis DAO Discord, today’s the day to make your introduction.

Inside the Moralis DAO Discord, you’ll find a stacked deck of Moralis experts and fellow mages. Post your projects and get feedback from the community, participate in coding challenges, and stay updated with the latest Moralis features and updates.

What you do with the tools and expertise provided is up to you, and we hope this magazine helps spark some ideas.

What are you building with Moralis? Are you stuck? Reach out to us with questions and comments. Who knows, we may even respond to you directly in a future magazine!

Breaking News!

Built Faster, Better, and for Less with Moralis

It has been an exciting week for Moralis’ core development.

As our team worked to scale our ever-growing production infrastructure, the stats are in!

The average development time saved by Moralis users is 87%!

In total, this equals more than $80M in development costs saved when building with Moralis!

Check out these stats and more on the Moralis homepage: https://moralis.io/.

Rarible Plugin Now Available

Moralis plugins are the hottest and fastest way to integrate existing APIs into Moralis-powered dApps. The 1inch plugin (for example) provides a quick and easy method for adding exchange functions to Web3 dApps.

Most recently, we’ve added a Rarible plugin. This plugin allows builders to perform (otherwise) complex blockchain functions, such as lazy minting, creating sell orders, and modifying payment (ERC-20 instead of ETH).

You can check out this new plugin at the following link: https://moralis.io/plugins/rarible-nft-tools/.

Upgrade your NFT Web3 dApp today, with custom functionality provided via Moralis’ Rarible plugin!

Help Us Build Moralis – Submit a Pull Request Today

Moralis is a community movement, one that each of us is a part of. This is true, of course, when you use Moralis’ Web3 framework to build your own dApp. However, this is not the only way to be part of what Moralis is building.

Ambitious builders can submit improvement requests to our Ethereum boilerplate directly through GitHub: https://github.com/ethereum-boilerplate/ethereum-boilerplate

If you are not yet familiar with the Ethereum boilerplate, check out last week’s issue for help getting started: https://moralis.io/moralis-magazine-14-ethereum-boilerplate-101/

The competition is on this week, as the best (approved) pull request will be the winner of this week’s Bored Moralis Mage NFT contest: https://opensea.io/collection/boredmoralismages.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN – THE MAIN EVENT! LET’S GET READY TO BUIDL!!!

Today, we are cloning Reddit from scratch using Moralis’ Web3 framework!

This is not a drill; by using Moralis, you can build your own social network, and our own Moralis expert, Daniel, is here to guide us, as we…

Build a Social Network with Moralis

In the social network tutorial, we are using a Web3 login, where each account is authenticated via the user’s cryptocurrency wallet. This type of login and account authentication can be applied independently as well.

 Q&A – Fast Break

Next, we will answer a question received from Moralis Magazine readers last week.

How do I get started?

To truly “go the distance” in cryptocurrency, you’ll want to develop a solid understanding of how blockchain works (at minimum).

At Moralis Academy, we teach JavaScript first, before branching out into other programming languages, and then expand into Solidity programming (a JavaScript-based language used for programming EVM smart contracts).

If you want to look into ERC-20 deployment first, check out the following guide from Moralis’ documentation: https://docs.moralis.io/guides/deploy-and-track-erc20-events.

If you are struggling to keep up with the guide mentioned above, don’t worry. With Moralis Academy, you can start from scratch – no prior knowledge is needed!

Thanks for reading! We hope you found this week’s Moralis Magazine useful.

Keep BUIDLING!

See you next time 💚
